Veterans At This Flooded VFW Post Refused To Give Up, So Now Dave Portnoy Is Matching All Donations To Save It And Rebuild

Last Fall Hurricane Ida ripped through the Philly area & destroyed homes & businesses along the Schuylkill River (don’t ask me how many tries it took to spell that right).

Among the destruction was VFW Post 6956 in Gladwyn, right outside the city. Water went all the way up to the ceiling and in the blink of an eye 75+ years of history was destroyed.

Combined with Covid it was another rought hit to a group of veterans ranging from the Korean War to Post 9/11 era who considered that spot a second home. This Post wasn’t just a bar, it was their hub of community, camaraderie and volunteerism during times where its so needed.

In the year since, they’ve worked hard to re-open with several smaller, local fundraisers, but the damage is so severe that they’ve still found themselves in a hole. Now they’re at risk of losing such a key spot unless help arrives ASAP.

Cue El Presidente AKA Dave Portnoy, who has never hesitated to step up for vets. He will be matching all donations made today, Veterans Day, through Sunday. If you have even $1, $5, anything at all it would be so greatly appreciated.

Some of these men & women have been going there religiouisly for decades, and I spoke with a veteran who said as soon as he returned from Vietnam it was the very first place he went, and he’s been going there ever since. It’s not just tugging of the heartstrings - these places truly matter.

You can read their full story HERE, and if you can donate I cannot thank you enough. These veterans were also invited to attend the Barstool Invitational tonight and I can't wait to talk to them again & share updates on the fundraiser.

Happy Veteran’s Day to all who served, and to all those remembering family members & friends who served today. They are not forgotten. Places like the Gladwyn Vets post help carry the torch & pass on honoring & remembering to the next generations.
